In my
humble opinion what PTI need to do is to get rid of the Trojan Horses and the
infiltra(i)tors. Some will get lost now during the stand of at Azadi Square and
some of them will stay behind and run havoc at a later stage.
PTI is a
democratic party and office holders cannot be excluded unless they commit
something illegal/unconstitutional or they are voted out in intra-party
elections.
Those who
stay behind need to be sent packing through intra-party elections. The first
intra-party elections were not according to democratic standards. There were
loads of irregularities and difficulties to conduct the elections. We need to
look at the Tasneem/Noorani report -
which is made by PTI itself – to conduct the next intra-party elections
in a better way. The intra-party elections should be conducted at the earliest
possible after the protest in Islamabad.
What PTI
need to do is to introduce paid membership. By doing so PTI will be able to
filter out those planted elements who deliberately vote for the wrong people. A
side effect which is not to be ignored either is; the party will get funds from
multiple sources. PTI will depend on a few rich and influential
figures on far lesser extent than the case is today. The major part of the funds will come from ordinary members in
Pakistan as well as overseas chapters.
By introducing paid membership in Pakistan then PTI will lose many
"members", but PTI should not worry about that. Fewer and more
dedicated members will be a force for the party. The elections process will
also be doable exercise for PTI. PTI must not try to make a world record by
having most members. It's far more important to have genuine & dedicated members,
who aim high for the justice party. It's worth to note that we should not have illusions about future cheating. By having paid membership we will not completely eliminate the possibility of cheating, but cheating will be reduced
significantly and never be nearby the level of cheating witnessed at the first intra-party elections.
Last but not least the overseas members MUST be given voting rights too and they must also be given a representation in PTI's CEC. It’s a pity that members with a high potential value for PTI is kept out in darkness and only used as a source of income for PTI.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts Saqib; thank you for sharing them.
SvarSletI understand you point that PTI needs 'genuine and dedicated' members but may I suggest that that we need supporters too. I do not know what is the correct ratio of members and supporters but both play a vital part in our struggle to change Pakistan. I think inevitably there will be many opportunists who will join PTI in the hope of reinventing themselves but will soon realise that PTI is quite different.
My view is that PTI must not become an exclusive paid members only party but must draw on core decency and desires of all Pakistanis. Naya Pakistan is for everyone; yes many are not doing their bit for it but this is the way the world is - many enjoy a free ride when others toil.
I agree that PTI must give voting rights to overseas members and a two track approach must end simply because it fosters division with the ranks. Overseas members have superb expertise and a wealth of experience which can kick-start our economy and education sectors.
